DAY 97---AT SEA

Our noon position is at sea approaching the east end of Cuba enroute to Cartagena, Colombia.  We have a long way to go as not arriving there until Thursday.  Late morning the seas became angry and the ship started to bob around.  Not to bad as we were on the treadmills early but picked up as I was out on our balcony reading my book, "2034".  After showering I decided that I better play it safe and put half of a scopolamine on behind my ear.  I like to practice "safe cruising".  It is 77 degrees outside with a 40 knot wind.

LAST NIGHT:

Cocktails in the Horizon Lounge with Karen & Burt Schraga.  Note the "pigs-in-a-blanket" I ordered for our canapes.  They live in the Sonoma Valley wine area of California.

Later we enjoyed dinner in Compass Rose with our waiter, Joseph.  He just returned to the ship after a short 1 month vacation.
I really enjoyed this chicken & goose liver parfait with fig-cranberry jam for my appetizer.
Rebecca and I really enjoyed the pan fried veal liver and onions with bacon.  Onions not what we were used to but good.
Apple strudel with vanilla sauce and some ice cream.
Sitting near us was Jim & Jane Stoddard.  Jim is also a retired AAL pilot.
We liked some of Lauren's songs but not all.

TODAY:

Rough seas and Captain said on the noon time PA that it might get worse.

Pretty quiet around the ship today.  Maybe because of the ship's movements.  We watched the replay on tv of this morning's speaker in the theater.  Hugh Neighbour spoke on the new trends of change in Latin America, namely South and Central America.  It was interesting.  This afternoon's speaker is Dr Dave Roberts who is talking about the Panama Canal.  The tv rerun is not available at the time I am finishing up today's post.
On today's Passage (daily schedule of what's happening on board) there was a list of upcoming events.  I lists there will be a "special world cruise event" the evening we are to be in San Diego on April 24th.  Appears it will be off the ship but there were no details, just said time will be 5:30pm.
I believe we now only have around 80 world cruise passengers left on board.  Reception just told me the total number of passengers on board this segment is 281.
We and Marcia have been invited to dine this evening in Compass Rose with an old friend, Gudrun, who is the Cruise Consultant (sales person) on board now.  We will start the evening with martinis in the Mariner Lounge around 6pm.
Tonight's headliner entertainer is featuring a singer, Kenny James.  We believe we have seen him on a previous cruise.  Definitely want to see his show.  I hope the turnout for it will be more than last night.  Not very many at all in the audience last night.  Feel sorry for the performers.

LAST NIGHT We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge with Marcia, Burt, Richard, Harvey, and Gudrun (sales consultant).  Then up to Sette Mar...
