Here we are in sunny southern California, San Diego, to be more exact.  At noon it is 78 degrees and quite pleasant out on the balcony.

LAST NIGHT:

Another boring night in isolation.  I had some honey glazed Virginia ham, parsley potatoes, and cauliflower for dinner at 7:30.  The ham was pretty good.  Of course some more La Crema chardonnay. The apple and blueberry cobbler with ice cream was REALLY good.  W
While having cocktails and dinner I watched a replay on tv of one of our speakers talking about California.  Then I watched part of a movie on tv.  I retired at 8:30 and did some reading for a while.
Still bumpy last night.

TODAY:

I woke up at 6:30 so just decided to go ahead and get up.  As I was dressing I decided I might as well just go ahead and shower and get ready for the day.  May be cool this morning in San Diego so I had Rebecca drop off a pair of jeans and couple long sleeve shirts.  I hope I can sit out on the balcony later today so wanted the warmer clothes on.  As it turns out, it is warm out there so just need shorts.
                                                              Here comes the pilot boat.
The pilot is about to step on board.
Earlier this morning we passed by hundreds of small dolphins coming almost all the way out of the water.  I did not see them however until we were almost past them.  As we approached the bay I noticed some of these navigation buoys had some small sea otters lying on them.  There is one on this one.
We sailed past Coronado Island and at the end of it is North Island Naval Air Station.  It is a huge place.
These are places where munitions are stored.
Some of the aircraft parked on the ramp.
Looking down one of their runways.
Looking back as we make a turn around the end of the island and air station.
You can see the skyline of downtown San Diego on the other side of the air station.
Looking down another runway with a cargo plane on the ramp.
                                                   Many helicopters on the ramp.
Now we are around the island and heading straight in to the cruise terminal which is right downtown.
                                                       Another shot of the helicopters
Still part of the air station with the Coronado Bridge in the background.

                                                                       Downtown

This is the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier that is now a very neat museum.
There is a Viking Ocean cruise ship already docked.  It is the Viking Orion.  She was launched in 2018 and has a 930 passenger capacity.
                                                               Our dock is dead head.

The linesmen are catching lines tossed from the ship.
The drug sniffing dog is checking out some of our provisions.
I sat out on my balcony quite a bit this morning.  Kind of noisy from all the equipment.  Nice temperature wise and I have my balcony door open today.  I could not decide what to order off the room service menu so I called Rebecca and had her run up to La Veranda and get me some pizza.  Pizza there is very good.  She dropped it at my door.
Right below my balcony is where these fuel lines are going into the ship's fuel tank system.
Two different trucks off loaded engine waste into them.
This is a harbor tour boat passing behind us.  My tour today was to be on it for a tour of the harbor.
                                                                        Viking Orion
Unloading this packed full semi trailer.  Full of fresh fruits and vegetables only.
                                                      Drug dog sniffed every pallet.
                                                                     Lots of potatoes

Fresh berries, oranges, lemons, and cabbage on the bottom.
                                                                          Tomatoes

Papaya and bananas and something else

It took them about 3 hours to unload the semi trailer.  Lots of fresh stuff on board now.  Looked yummy.
At 5pm there is a World Cruise Special Event for full WC folks that will be held at the Hotel Del Coronado.  World cruise folks will be bussed there for a buffet dinner outside.  Going to be very cool for that so we would not go even if I was out of isolation.  Not much of an "event" if you ask me.
I asked Rebecca to go to the Horizon Lounge and get me a half glass of sweet vermouth for my Manhattans later.  She sat the glass outside my door, knocked, and left.  I'm set for 6pm happy hour now.  I have figured out what I will be ordering from the menu at 7pm.  Veal osso bucco, a fav of mine.
We will be sailing at a weird time tonight.  Sailing time 4am!  We will be at sea for 3 days.  Next port is Astoria, Oregon on Thursday.  I will be out of isolation by then for sure.  Should be out on Wednesday at latest.

HOMEWARD BOUND

LAST NIGHT We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge with Marcia, Burt, Richard, Harvey, and Gudrun (sales consultant).  Then up to Sette Mar...
