Our position at 1pm today is cruising in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Nicaragua.  Clouds and haze with temperature of 83 degrees.  Getting a good ride today.

YESTERDAY:

Well, Easter went down hill fast yesterday evening.  We were planning on attending the interdenominational Easter worship service at 5:30.  Afterwards drinks and dinner with Marcia and two cruise staff ladies.
Starting late morning I noticed some congestion but did not feel bad.  Debated on whether or not to call medical for a covid test.  At 4pm I thought since dining with Marcia and staff members I should get one and hope to error on the side of safety.  So a very nice medical young man came up to our suite and administered both an antigen and PCR test.  Ten minutes later he called and said the antigen was positive and still waiting on results of the PCR.  He called later and said it was also positive.
I have no earthly idea how I got infected.  Have not been off the ship since Miami and we are careful to wash our hands when returning to our suite.  Apparently, 3 others tested positive yesterday also.
They said for me to stay in the suite while they prepared an isolation suite from me to move to.  They also came back and tested Rebecca.  Thank God she was negative.  They tested her again this morning and still negative. She will be tested every morning for next few days.
Someone called me and wanted to know contact information:  who we had been around last 48 hours, what time and where I ate meals, and other times I was out of the suite.  There are cameras all over the ship and there is now a special officer assigned to reviewing camera tapes.  Unfortunately, on Saturday evening we had cocktails and dinner with two other couples.  So now they also will be tested for a few days and have to wear masks again.
So got busy and packed up what I would need in the isolation suite.  They said I would be tested again on Friday and Saturday.  I have to have two consecutive negative tests prior to being released from isolation.  They said if no consecutive negatives I would be released in 10 days anyway.  Let's hope I'm out of here on Saturday!
This suite will not be serviced unless I request something, ie, clean towels.  I call room service for my meal requests.  They bring it to the door on a trolley out in front of my door and ring the door bell.  I don a mask and they stand well back as I get the tray and take it into the room.  It works well.
Spring rolls and a beef and noodle dish for dinner last night.
When I moved into the isolation suite I packed up these "essentials" to bring with me.
As I said my only symptom is a little congestion.  The doctor came to our original suite before moving to check me out:  temperature, blood oxygen level, listened to my chest etc.  All checked out normal.
Since I can't leave the room I did not bring many clothes.  Main thing was cell phone and laptop so I can communicate with the world.  Just use my cell phone to take photos as we get hours and hours of free ship's phone time to use now as Titanium members.
I hardly got any sleep last night.  Just tossed and turned.  Not sure why but did not seem tired (like one of the covid symptoms).  I really miss Rebecca being with me.  Hope I don't go crazy before Saturday.

TODAY:

First thing I called Rebecca to see if she was feeling any symptoms.  None she said.  They came and tested her at 9am and test was, thank God, negative again.  So she can leave the room but has to be masked.  As do the 4 friends we had Saturday dinner with.  So far they are also negative.
I needed a few things I had forgot to bring so she placed them outside my door and rang the bell.  Hope she stays negative in case I need something else.  She went to dinner in Compass Rose and sat alone at a table.  She will continue doing this.  Seemed many dining staff already got the news about me.  Still many passengers were wondering why she was alone.  I'm sure the whole ship knows by now.
A med tech came by this morning and again checked my temperature and blood oxygen level (97% so could not be much better).  I must say that I am totally impressed with how medical, in particular, but rest of staff have taken such good care of me.  They sure have a great plan in place for covid.  I was told 3 other passengers tested positive yesterday also.  Last night I also got calls from Annie, our friend the head of housekeeping, and William, Executive Concierge, to make sure all was satisfactory.
They also put me on a Z-pack for 3 days.  Not sure why.  Bottle says not to drink alcohol but screw that idea.  I thought I had brought some Ambiem to help with sleep but Rebecca can't find any.  I asked med tech and he said he would ask the doctor.  Have not heard back.  I should sleep well tonight after not much last night.
At her lunch today she asked the special order maitre'd to send me a couple jalapeno poppers at 6pm to have with my Manhattan.
My lunch consisted of tomato soup (which I burnt my tongue on), a tuna sandwich, and chips.  All very good.  I could use a nap but want to sleep tonight.

So here I am not enjoying being locked up.  Pretty depressing and lonely.  Hate to wish time away but I am.  One other minor symptom I have is slight loss of appetite but that's good since I can't go to the gym daily as before.  Word to the wise out there.  Be careful!!  I have been fully vaccinated and boosted and still got it.

HOMEWARD BOUND

LAST NIGHT We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge with Marcia, Burt, Richard, Harvey, and Gudrun (sales consultant).  Then up to Sette Mar...
