Nice sunny day here in Acapulco with basically no wind and temperature a warm 86 degrees already at 10am.  May be too hot for me to enjoy sitting out today.

BACKGROUND INFO:
Acapulco is located 240 miles south of Mexico City on a deep, semi-circular bay and has been a port since the early colonial days of Mexico’s history.  It is Mexico’s largest and oldest beach and resort city.  It came to prominence from the 1940’s through 1960’s as a getaway for Hollywood stars and millionaires.  Now most of the tourists here are from Mexico itself.  Cancun and Cabo San Lucas are now the choices for American tourists, especially spring break teenagers because the drinking age in Mexico is 18 not 21.  Unemployment and poverty has resulted in a large number of locals trying to sell everything on the beaches and streets.  Local corrupt police also try to extort money from tourists with threats of jail.  Garbage is also filling the bay polluting it and some of the beaches. Violence is also on the rise due to poverty and drugs.  Now you know why it is not a great idea to come here.
The main attraction of Acapulco is its nightlife.  We are sailing at 4:00pm which is still way too early for the nightclubs to open.  Probably the most famous attraction here are to see the La Quebrada Cliff Divers.  I saw this show on our stop here during our 2017 World Cruise and again in 2019.
I think you may recall the old tv show, “Love Boat”.  There were many episodes of the old Pacific Princess cruise ship with Acapulco as a port of call.  We, too, were here on a Princess cruise ship many years ago.  Many visits here since on Regent.

LAST NIGHT:

The really nice med tech came by and checked my vital late this evening.  Both checked good.  I started my happy hour at 6pm as usual.  I always call Rebecca to say "Cheers".
Loved my "pigs-in-a-blanket" and Manhattan.  I ordered it at 6pm and it arrived at 6:15.  Faster than in the dining room.  Not complaining but just saying I am not being neglected.  I'm watching an old black and white movie during dinner.  Missed the name but it's good.
Beautiful evening in the Atlantic Ocean.
At 7:15 I ordered fole gras (appetizer) and a salad from room service.  It showed up 15 minutes later.  Faster than service in Compass Rose.  I did not want to order my entree until after this so it would not get cold.

Oh my!  I ordered my miso sea bass with a chocolate souffle.  It also arrived in about 15 minutes.  I am so impressed as timing is faster than Compass Rose.  The sea bass was even just as hot as in Compass Rose.  The piece looked small to me but it is soooooo rich I could not finish it.  I am receiving such good service.
I retired to bed at 8:30 but read my book for a while.  Pretty good night's sleep but I always wake up a few times.

TODAY:

First of all, again, thank the Lord, Rebecca tested negative again this morning.  I got a call from medical at 8am saying the Mexican health people would be at my suite in a "few" minutes to administer a covid test.  Finally at about 9:30 two BIG Mexicans along with Dr Maria (really nice doctor) and another med tech (handsome young man and super nice) showed up.  Mexican's needed my age so I said 73.  The doctor and med tech paid me a great compliment by saying I did not look that old.
The Mexican stuck a swab half way down my throat and another half way through my brain (nose swab).  Dr Maria said the Mexicans were tracking covid variants.
At 8:45 Andrea, stewardess, showed up in her hazmet suit to clean my room.  Poor thing as I know that plastic suit was hot plus her face mask got so fogged over she could hardly see.  Usually two stewardesses work together when cleaning suites but just her to do it today.  She started with the electrostatic sprayer spraying every where in the room including the bed coverings before changing them.  I waited out on the balcony while she cleaned the suite then inside while she cleaned the balcony.  So nice to be able to see out the balcony doors again after cleaning.  It took her about 45 minutes to finish up.  Just after she left is when my covid testing finally happened.
My sore throat was worse last night as "crud" collects in my throat when lying down to irritate it.  Maybe the Mucinex is breaking it up.  Better during the day when it can drain normally.  Seems to be breaking up this morning as I am coughing it up.  This all feels just like a cold.  I am forcing myself to drink lots of water.  Strange thing is I still have the habit of washing my hands every day several times.
I ordered just a blueberry muffin and some coffee for my breakfast.  It showed up just as Andrea came to clean my suite so I did not get to it until after she had finished.  Coffee was still hot.

Some photos taken from my balcony this morning while Andrea was cleaning my suite.

I asked Rebecca to bring me down some pizza from La Veranda when she finished her lunch up there.  Well, Nino saw her carrying my plate of pizza and he said room service would deliver it.  So pizza was cold by the time it arrived.  That's ok.
I had watched episode #2 of "Reacher" on Amazon but Amazon quit when I tried for episode 3.  Seems the ship's internet went down as cell phone lost it also.  On my first call to Reception they said there was no internet problem but 40 minutes later confessed there was an issue but it was fixed.  Still wasn't until 2pm.  Stuff always happens when Robert, the internet manger, is on his break.  I'm happy again but not when I cannot get online.
So once again Rebecca has talked to Alin, Sette Mari maitr'd, about a special order.  At 6pm room service will deliver some more "pigs in a blanket" and chip for my happy hour.  At 7pm some Sette Mari veal parmesan will be delivered.  I just hope it is still hot.
We shall be sailing early at 4pm today for Cabo San Lucas but another sea day tomorrow before arriving there on Friday.  It is nearly 90 degrees outside now but maybe I can go out on balcony while we sail out of Acapulco bay.
The show tonight is featuring Richard Rubin, our assistant cruise director.  Of course I can't go and doubt Rebecca will go.  Richard is a talented showman for sure.

Can't go to Acapulco without seeing the famous cliff divers.  So here are a couple photos I took when here in the spring of 2019.
To see him in his dive you will have to click on the photo to enlarge it.  He is in top part of the photo.

BIG MORNING TOMORROW AS REBECCA WILL HAVE HER LAST COVID TEST.  PRAYERS PLEASE SHE IS STILL NEGATIVE.

HOMEWARD BOUND

LAST NIGHT We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge with Marcia, Burt, Richard, Harvey, and Gudrun (sales consultant).  Then up to Sette Mar...
