Got the heck out of Dodge!!

                                                                    Kaye & Carl Hill
The morning before our scheduled flight from Durango to Dallas I got an email from American Airlines saying southwest Colorado was under a winter snow alert and offered us to change our flight with no fees.  Durango area was forecast to get 6 to 12 inches of snow.  Fortunately, we were packed and close to ready to leave so we decide to switch our flight to that afternoon (Thursday, 30th).  So I called AA reservations to make the flight change and got a recording saying I would receive a call back in 2 hours.  Time then was 10:18am.  The flight I wanted to move to was to depart at 4:34pm.  Well it was 1pm before I get a call from AA.  They made the change and we got the last two seats in first class.  So now I called Jerry, a part time Uber driver, for a 2pm pickup at the house.  We had also called Kaye & Carl to make sure it was ok with them to arrive a day earlier than planned.  So now we completed my checklist for leaving the house for four months.
We arrived at the DRO airport shortly after 2:30.  Checked our luggage and no line at TSA.  Our flight departed a few minutes late due to luggage loading but the Captain said we had a nice tail wind so would still arrive on schedule.  We were both stressed out that day so we were ready for wine and bourbon to help us relax.
We did arrive on time at 7:34pm Dallas time.  Kaye was waiting for us as we entered the baggage claim area and Carl was parked curbside outside.  It took forever (as usual) for our luggage to come out.  We arrived at Kaye & Carl's house at 8:45pm and had more wine and Makers Mark Manhattans and some chicken salad.  YUM!
We were soooo relieved to be in Dallas and certainly good to see our long time friends.  After a very good night's sleep it is now Friday, 31st.  Rebecca had an appointment to get her hair cut and highlight color tomorrow but Helga called this morning and said she had a cancellation for 1pm.  She is there now.  I made appointments to get our PCR-RT covid tests for 8:30am Sunday, Jan 2nd, at an Urgent Care.  Although not a requirement, Regent HIGHLY recommended passengers get tested within 72 hours of our travel date to San Francisco.  We fly to SFO on Monday morning, Jan 3rd.
Right now my next planned blog post will be after arriving at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco.  We wish everyone a very Happy New Year.

Departure Planning

We're getting more excited now as we will be in San Francisco for the World Cruise in two more weeks.  Tomorrow UPS will be picking these four pieces of luggage up and shipping them to San Fran.  Next time we see them they will be awaiting us in our suite after boarding.  The UPS shipping is part of our cruise fare.  We will be packing four more bags on the week of December 27th.  They will go with us on our flights.  Two bags each are free with first class tickets.

UPS will be delivering our final cruise document package tomorrow, 22nd.  We will be flying to Dallas on the morning of New Year's Eve as will be spending three nights there with our very good, long time friends, Kaye & Carl Hill.  Our flight to San Francisco will be the morning of January 3rd.  American Airlines, of course!

HOMEWARD BOUND

LAST NIGHT We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge with Marcia, Burt, Richard, Harvey, and Gudrun (sales consultant).  Then up to Sette Mar...
