So here are today bobbing around off the coast of Baja California although it is actually Mexico. The Captain's forecast for rough seas was correct. Wind is 30 knots but as we are sailing directly into it the relative wind is 48 knots as the ship's speed is 18 knots. Earlier this morning it was 55 degrees but now 60 degrees so a bit chilly. They have the upper outer decks closed due to the wind.LAST NIGHT:
So next I ordered the above: baked half chicken, mashed potatoes, and buttered carrots. Oh, yes, another creme brulee to wash it down with not to mention some La Crema chardonnay. The white meat was a bit dry but I figured it would be.
A nurse came by at 5pm to check my vitals which were normal as usual. I finished the last episode of season 1 of Amazon's "Reacher". I HIGHLY recommend it to you. So far no season 2. While eating dinner I watched a great HBO documentary called "War Dog". It's about military service dogs who work with our soldiers in combat. I also HIGHLY recommend this to you.
TODAY:
I woke early but still had a good night's sleep despite the ship's movement. Read the Dallas Morning News, which the print for me daily. I get my crossword puzzles out of it.
At 8am I ordered a breakfast: half order of scrambled eggs, sausage link, and coffee. Room service is always timely. I called Andrea, my stewardess, to come get me more ice and empty my garbage can. She said I would have a new person tomorrow as she is going home on vacation.
I talk with Rebecca on the phone several times daily. I told her to take my passport down to Reception as they called me last night for it. Everyone will have to clear immigration tomorrow morning when we arrive back in a US port. Since I cannot leave the room a purser will clear me with them.
Lunch was a Caesar salad and some spaghetti.
Sorry not much I can report when locked down like this. I watched an Amazon movie this afternoon, "Horizon Line". Don't bother with it.
I'm lucky Rebecca is not isolated too. She can drop off things I need at my door. She just dropped a pair of jeans, couple long sleeve shirts, and another clean t-shirt. Temperatures now will be cooler than the Caribbean so I need warmer clothes if I want to go out on my balcony. I hope to tomorrow in San Diego. Don't think we dock there until 10am.
We are now on California time so it's 3:30 now and I am about to publish this post. Seas are still rough so it will be nice to be docked tomorrow. Well, day 6 of isolation is about to end. I am still sane but barely. This makes me wonder how the Viet Nam POW's managed to be isolated for years. With nothing!!
