LAST NIGHT:
Pre-dinner cocktails at 6pm again in the Mariner Lounge. Komang just brings our drinks now without us ordering as he knows what we want. He is from Bali.
Headwaiters and waiters at entrance to Compass Rose waiting for folks to show up for dinner. We had 7pm reservations in Prime 7. We had a window table in the back. As you can see there are lots of tables available. However they will not book all the tables now due to protocols. Legimin was our wine sommelier. He is Indonesian.I kept him busy as I had a glass from the four red wines they were featuring.
We both started with a cup of Boston clam chowder (not shown). Then I had a half order of wedge salad with bleu cheese dressing.
We both chose the roasted prime rib as our entrees. Of course for dessert I had another popcorn sundae. I took a photo of it but Rebecca will not let me put it on this post as it was not flattering of her in the background.

TODAY:
This morning we got a "health form" that the port of Chiapas will require us to fill out and sign to go ashore tomorrow. It basically asks if we are experiencing covid symptoms and asks if we are vaccinated. We will also have to show our vaccination card to port officials as we disembark for tours. I am taking a copy of my CDC card as do not want to take a chance of losing the original. It is kept in our suite safe at all times. Rebecca is not touring tomorrow just me.
Another smooth sailing day. While I was taking this photo I saw some small dolphins leaping out of the water. By the time I got my camera with a telephoto lens, we had passed by them. We have some birds out here with us today. Hard to see in this photo but we can see the Mexican coast in the distance. This is our position at noon today. It's sunny and 82F. The humidity is lower today and it's very pleasant on the balcony today. The Captain said we had slowed down to just 8 knots for about 3 hours today so they could do some "environmental" work. Not sure what that is about. He said the wind would be picking up to about 30 knots later this afternoon.Beers iced down next to the pool bar today. Tempting but I have to rest my liver during the day. See photo below of my today's T-shirt!!!
Regent has two incredible guest speakers. Terry Breen lectures on their Alaska and South America cruises. She is a walking encyclopedia on those two areas of the world. Of course she is not on our world cruise. But the other guest lecturer is with us until February 13th. That's Terry Bishop. His lectures are more historical and he throws in some humor occasionally. We do not go to the theater in the mornings of sea days to hear him for two reasons: 1) we go to the gym in mornings and 2) we do not want to wear masks. His lectures are taped so we watch them in the afternoon on our suite tv. There is another lecturer with us now. She is not a "regular" like the two Terrys I just mentioned. Dr Sofia Laurein is just on for this segment. Her lecture today is on the history of the Mayan civilization.
The laundry I sent out last evening just came back this afternoon. We are not fans of the piece of "art??" on our suite wall. The wall is metal with a covering so I bring magnets to put up things on the wall. Very handy!Well, tonight was to be the Seven Seas Society party in the theater. The Seven Seas Society is like the airlines repeat flyer program, ie, American Airlines AAdvantage program. In the SSS there are different levels depending on the number of nights you have sailed with Regent.
Bronze 7 to 20 nights
Silver 21 to 74 nights
Gold 75 to 199 nights
Platinum 200 to 399 nights
Titanium 400 to 999 night We are this level.
Diamond 1000 to 1999 nights We plan to be this level on next year's world cruise.
Commodore 2000 + nights
With each level the benefits increase. During the SSS party you are acknowledged when going from one level to the next one. Due to the covid protocols (no food or drinks allowed now in the theater) there will not be a party in the theater tonight as on past cruises. We are striving to become "Diamond" on next year's WC as diamonds are invited to the christening of Regent's new ships. In the fall of 2023 the Grandeur will be christened and we want to be there for it.
Always on the Compass Rose menu on SSS night is our favorite Regent entree: miso glazed sea bass. I will be having two orders!! Joining us for cocktails and dinner is Marcia Rector. You can order it for other nights but you have to tell the chef two days in advance as it has to marinate for 48 hours.
The show tonight is by Gary once again. He is the penny whistle/flutist that we enjoyed a few nights ago.
Tomorrow morning we arrive in Chiapas, Mexico. I have an excursion beginning at 8:45.
