Our position at noon today was half way from New Orleans to our next port of call, Galveston.  The Gulf is pretty rough looking today and the ship is rocking some.  Ship's speed is 12 knots to get better ride.  It is cloudy and a chilly 63 degrees outside today.

LAST NIGHT:

We departed the pier at 7pm.  Rain, wind, and lightning hit shortly after that as we sailed away and reading today that a tornado hit at 7:30.  I took a screen shot of the line of weather approaching.  From my years of interpreting radars when flying I see the "hook" extending out from the line in the middle of this photo.  That indicates a possibility for a tornado forming.  Some crew managed to get some photos and videos of the tornado from our ship.  There was some flooding down the aft stairway from rain water on the pool deck coming in as the ship listed during turns on the river.
I went up to the look over the "French Creole Dinner" they were to have at the pool grill but due to the weather it was moved into La Veranda.  Here is the oyster display.
This guy was shucking the oysters for raw oysters on shell.  Dangerous for him to not be using a heavy rubber glove to do it however.  Overall I was not too impressed with the buffet selections.

We dined in Compass Rose.  They did bring us a cup of the crab soup down from the buffet.  Rebecca had the chicken parmesan.  Marcia had the Dover sole.  I had requested a dozen fried oysters which they did have for me.  Dang, I didn't get a photo of them.  Breading was a little to heavy but oysters were big and good.
You've seen this dessert before but I had it again last night.  Again I could only eat half of it.

Jassen's show was another good one.  Great voice.
Great group of friends after the show.

TODAY:

We are rocking some out in the Gulf this morning.  Passing by some oil platforms.
We did manage to get our treadmill time in despite to ship's movements.  There is a brunch up in La Veranda today from 9am to 1:30 so we went up at our usual time, noon.  Besides what is in these photos there was:  bloody Mary's, omelets, eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, quiches, fruit, yogurts, etc.

                                                                Carving roast beef
Waffles with fried chicken & pancakes
                                                      Oysters Rockefeller (I had 5)
                                                                    Bread pudding
Beignets (not like the ones on NO)
                                                                   Bananas Foster
While at lunch every day they come and clean our suite.  Today they had not quite finished as they were putting our balcony furniture back out.  They had stored it in the empty suite next to us for last night's storm.
So the boutique is just next to our suite.  Rebecca has had her eye on a new purse so we got it while they were finishing up with our suite.  Since we still have quite a bit of ship board credits to use may as well get it.

We watched a movie on the tv this afternoon.  We've passed by many oil platforms in the distance today.  There will be a pre-dinner show at 6:15 in the theater.  It is Andy Bunger's (the instrumentalist) second show.  Doubt we will attend as don't care for pre-dinner shows.
We will be having pre-dinner cocktails in the Horizon Lounge then dinner in Compass Rose.  The comedian, Kevin Davane, will be having an after dinner show in the Horizon Lounge a 9:30.  We will probably attend it..
We are scheduled to dock in Galveston, Texas, tomorrow morning by 7am.  Marcia and us will be meeting our good friends, Sydney & Steve Uthoff, at 9am.  They live in Houston and are coming down to visit with us.  They will also be bringing my Amazon order and some things for Marcia & Rebecca.

HOMEWARD BOUND

LAST NIGHT We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge with Marcia, Burt, Richard, Harvey, and Gudrun (sales consultant).  Then up to Sette Mar...
