LAST NIGHT:
I loved this appetizer, chicken & goose liver parfait with fig-cranberry jam and toast.
Vietnamese apple strudel with vanilla sauce and ice cream. Entree not worth a photo as salmon was overcooked and cold.
This is Sofie who is the maitre'd in the French restaurant, Chartreuse. That restaurant was closed last night so she was in Compass Rose. She is always in La Veranda during lunch time also. We promised her we would dine in Chartreuse at least once during the cruise. The comedian, Kevin Devane, was from the UK. He started out a little slow which made me think I may have to exit (we sat on the back row last night) but he was very funny after a few minutes.
TODAY:
After breakfast I got our credit cards statements all paid. Thank God for internet so we can do it and other tasks when away from home for so long. One big advantage of being on the ship for 4 months is we don't have to buy food, wine, dining out, and other expenses when at home. I have a vacation hold on our Direct TV service and garbage service so save there also.
I went up and did my hour fast walk up on deck 12 today instead of the treadmill. Rebecca did treadmill as usual. After that I went off the ship to a Publix food market not far from the ship to see if they had a pharmacy.Rebecca uses this for a rash on her face but this tube expired in 2017 and was from our Dallas dermatologist back then. Of course she should have had our Durango prescribe it but too late now. The Publix market did not have a pharmacy. We don't have prescription but was going to try and see if they could fill it anyway. Will try when in New Orleans. If they won't, I can get some in Mexico or Caribbean island IF they carry it.At lunch Massimo, the GM, stopped by to chat with us. He mentioned they were waiting for divers but did not say why and I did not ask. Should have as now I am curious. I went down to the lifeboat deck (deck below us on deck 6) and took these photos of the diver preparing for his dive.Ready set go!!
The diver is close to the gangway barely under water and has a light to check the hull. Not sure why the hull may need checked now. I'll see if I can get more info later. Diving completed by 2:30. Name on the truck was "Texas Commercial Diving & Ship Repair". Thought this was Florida!! The Celebrity cruise ship has left and now a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, "Brilliance of the Seas", has replaced her.
We shall be sailing again at 4:30pm for our next port which will be New Orleans on Monday. So we shall have another sea day tomorrow. It will be an interesting sail out of Tampa Bay this evening as we will be passing under the "Sunshine Skyway Bridge" that connects St Petersburg with the west coast of Florida. This bridge opened in April of 1987 at a cost of $240 million and is 4.1 miles long. At its highest point is is 430 feet above the Bay. I will try to have photo of this on tomorrow's posting.
Not sure where we will have pre-dinner cocktails this evening as the estimated time we will be passing under the bridge is 5:30. I would like to see that. Dinner will be in Compass Rose.
The headliner entertainer tonight at 9:15 is Andy Bunger, who is billed to be playing 7 different instruments (one being the cow bell).
We will be changing to Central Daylight Savings Time at 2am tonight.
