Our position at noon today is at sea dodging many "cays" (small low elevation sandy islands lying on coral reefs). We will be arriving at Great Stirrup Cay tomorrow morning, which as you recall from our last visit here, is an island owned by NCL. We are now half way from Puerto Plata to Great Stirrup Cay. Temperature is 82 degrees.LAST NIGHT:
Some photos of the Fort San Felipe taken from our balcony as we sailed out of the harbor yesterday.
Paul, our Cruise Director, leading the interdenominational worship service.
"Bar Flies" who are our friends at the Horizon Lounge bar about every evening.
Susanne's mother passed away early on when on this cruise so she will be flying home Wednesday when we get to Miami. We'll see her again on next year's world cruise.
Fred, the comedian, stopped by for a photo with us. He is a super guy.Turkey with stuffing, sweet potato, peas, and cranberry sauce. I asked for dark meat and got this "pressed" stuff. Rebecca enjoyed her white meat.
Molten chocolate lava cake with ice cream. I just ate half of it. Gotta cut back!! Here are some more photos of the production cast show, "Blazing Boots". This show is one of our favorites.
Sitting behind us at the show was Millie and Malcolm. Malcom is a "Commodore" status with more than 2000 nights on Regent cruises. MANY MORE!!! Millie just became "Diamond" with 1000 nights. On the back row are more long time Regent cruisers including Peggy Nathan (another Commodore) and other Diamond members.
TODAY:
The ship is moving about more today than it ever has due to some bigger swells. It was a lot more noticeable during our lunch as La Veranda is on deck 11 aft. The best ride is midship on the lower deck. That is why we always try to get where we are now. Deck 7 midship. Deck 7 is the lowest passenger suites deck. Remember back when you learned about a fulcrum or better yet remember a teeter totter. Board moves the least in the middle. Same principle on a cruise ship. It's weird as the higher up go up the more expensive the suites/staterooms are. But the ride is worse up there.
During the Captain's noon PA he said due to strong winds forecast at Stirrup Cay tomorrow, tendering may not be safe so will evaluate the situation when we arrive at our anchorage tomorrow. We may be having another day at sea instead.
This evening is formal optional dress. So I will dust off the old tux (probably dinner jacket). We will be having cocktails and dinner tonight with Marcia Rector.
Here is the menu in Compass Rose tonight. We will also be going to see David Meyer's second show in the theater at 9:15.
