Our position today and tomorrow is docked in New Orleans on the Mississippi River.  It is a sunny day today and the temperature was 58 degrees at 6:45 this morning when I went out on the balcony to watch our making the final turn on the river and sailing past Jackson Square and the NO river front.  Temperature in the afternoon was mid 70's with some wind.

LAST NIGHT:

After the worship service we went to the Horizon Lounge with Marcia.  I had Googled the recipe for New Orlean's trademark drink, the Hurricane.  Mario, bartender, made one for Marcia and I.  She thought it was too sweet for her but I enjoyed it even though it is a sweeter drink than I am used to.
Setting sun in Gulf of Mexico
Rebecca and I had a 7pm reservation in Prime 7.  Neil, the maitre'd, seated us at our favorite corner table.  I started with a crab cake and this onion soup.  Rebecca started with a wedge salad.
This is the lemon pepper I mentioned yesterday.  Neil again sent down to the butcher and had two fresh 10 ounce filets cut for us.  He spoils us!!  He brought them to the table and I coated both of them with the lemon pepper before he took them to the chef for grilling.
This is the filet after grilling.  Again the Prime 7 chef cooked them a perfect medium rare.  The filets before cooking were at least 2 1/2 inches thick so not sure how he did it.  The lemon pepper really helped with the taste.
I chose the 14 layer chocolate cake but did not finish it.
After dinner we went to see "Tuxedo".  We've seen it 4 times now but love it.  Here are some photos of the show again.

TODAY:

I got up at 6:30 (an hour before the alarm was set for) to watch our final sail on the river approaching NO.  It was 58 degrees out on the balcony as the sun came up.  We made the final turn to sail along the NO water front.  I almost missed getting a photo of Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral.  The Steamboat Natchez is also docked there.  The steamboat does river jazz cruises and dinner cruises around the NO area.  We have done one or two before.

We will be docking behind the Carnival Valor cruise ship ahead.
Harrah's Casino just off the pier.
This is the American Queen river boat.  It does 7, 10, 14 day or longer cruises up and down the Mississippi.  We want to some day do a cruise on her from here to Memphis or the reverse.

We are docking just in front of the American Queen at the "Riverwalk" outlet mall.
The mall has many outlet stores including:  Chicos, Nordstrom Rack, Coach, and many more.
Nordstrom Rack is right across from our suite balcony.  We will be going there.
Walk off the gangway and right into the terminal.  The mall is above the terminals.
Since only one of the treadmills had tv sound (and Rebecca said it was cutting out) I went down and asked Reception if someone could please fix the treadmills.  Then I went up on deck 12 to do my fast walk.  Just 45 minutes today as we will be doing more walking when we get off the ship today.  This is Kim who was clearing the water off the deck.
I know that the country flag of what country the ship is visiting is flying on the mast.  In today's case the American flag is flying of course.  If  we were in a Canadian port the Canadian flag would be up there.  I did not know what the red flag meant so asked Kim.  He said it was up because we were "bunkering" (fueling).  He said there was another red flag hanging down from the bow in front of the ship.
On the other side of the mast was the Regent Seven Seas flag.
On the aft of the ship (outside the Horizon Lounge on deck 6, is the flag of the country where the ship is registered.  In our case this is the Nassau, Bahamas, flag.

Our suite is just to the left of the lifeboat.

                                                        I'm over there waving back.
                                                               Inside the Riverwalk Mall
A trip to New Orleans is not complete until you have some beignets.  We'll do that tomorrow.

Marcia, Rebecca, and I will be meeting for cocktails in the Horizon Lounge at 6pm.  Then we will be leaving the ship for dinner.  We will be taking an Uber ride from the cruise terminal to Olde NOLA Cookery at the west end of Bourbon street where we have 7pm reservations.  After dinner we may walk a few blocks down Bourbon Street to check out the night life.
The ship's orchestra will be playing Dixieland music in the Horizon Lounge at 9:30 which we may attend.  Only other entertainment tonight is a movie in the theater.  We are over nighting here in NO tonight.

HOMEWARD BOUND

LAST NIGHT We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge with Marcia, Burt, Richard, Harvey, and Gudrun (sales consultant).  Then up to Sette Mar...
