Our position today is docked in Costa Maya, Mexico. Sunny, 82 degrees, and windy.COSTA MAYA BACKGROUND INFO
Costa Maya
is a small tourist region in the state of Quinta Roo on the Yucatan Peninsula
just 130 miles south of Cozumel. It is
close to Chetumal the capital of Quinta Roo which is on the border with
Belize. Less that 1000 residents live
here.
It is the
closest port of access to many of the lesser known Mayan ruins. Some of the ship’s excursions will be
visiting a couple of these ruins. There
is a new and modern shopping mall in Costa Maya but the nice beaches are
located at Mahahual just to the south.
Since a large pier was built, now many cruise ships stop here.
LAST NIGHT:
Looking from deck 12 aft to the very small village of Costa Maya
There is this shuttle below.
No tours by me today and did not go ashore either. Might have but pretty windy and like the safety of our ship when there are other ships in port, ie, the huge NCL ship today. Probably watch a movie this afternoon.
Marcia will be joining us this evening for cocktails and dinner. The headline entertainer tonight is another guy from England. Ollie Malkeen is a singer/trumpeter. As I played the cornet in grade and high school, I might enjoy his show.
We will be sailing at 7pm for our next port of call, Belize City. It is just 65 miles away. Scheduled arrival tomorrow morning will be 7am.
