LAST NIGHT:
As we sailed from St Maarten we were treated to a beautiful rainbow. In the top photo its end appeared to be just a couple hundred yards from our balcony. Could see both ends of it in lower photo. You really need to click on these photos to see details. Table setting before we started our dinner in Sette Mari, the Italian restaurant. La Veranda during the day and Sette Mari at night.
We start with a glass or two of Prosecco. An Italian sparkling wine. L to R: Marissa, Dara (our waitresses) and Angie (our wine stewardess).
This array of antipasti comes to the all tables without ordering it at the beginning of the meal. This is my HUGE veal parmigiana. Rebecca had the veal scaloppine with lemon sauce and capers. We both asked that the chef not over cook the veal. He had in our last visit to Sette Mari. I came perfectly cooked this time.
No way one person can eat the whole piece of veal parm. Plenty for two people!!
Flourless chocolate cake and couple pieces of biscotti to go with coffee.Next stop was the theater. I was first one to enter when they opened the doors at 9pm. I wanted second row (first row is always blocked so far) center seats for "Blazing Boots". This is an amazing show by the super talented 12 members of the production cast. It is a Las Vegas quality show!! After our passengers show the cast did another show for just the crew. Nice touch!!
TODAY:
Last night we turned our clocks back an hour so now we are on Eastern time for our arrival in Miami on Sunday. I'm certain the crew loved the extra hour of sleep.
At 10am Jason Montague, President & CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, hosted a "town hall meeting" in the theater. He started it off by acknowledging the great crew on the ship which drew a BIG round of applause. We certainly are blessed with this fantastic crew and great service. After about 20 minutes of his remarks explaining exactly what was considered with how our world cruise planning at the last minute ended up the way it did. He also said they were very pleased with the bookings for the rest of this year and next. He remarked that the CDC would be requiring passengers be "boosted" for covid 5 months after their second vaccination and some foreign countries would require the booster shot within 7 months. Following his remarks there was a question and answer time. Seemed everyone who had questions were heard from and the meeting ended after 45 minutes. We are looking forward to our dinner in Prime 7 with Jason at 6:30 this evening. There will also be another couple and a single lady at the table with him. We are really excited and looking forward to our dinner tonight. At the pool grill for lunch there was a French buffet.
I decided to have some of the black mussels cooked in a garlic, onion, butter sauce. They had to cook them right there so Emanuel, a waiter we know, came up and asked how many I wanted and he would bring them to me in La Veranda. I said "three" meaning 3 mussels so I could just taste them.
Well, he thought I meant 3 "orders" so he delivered 3 of these servings. We laughed and had him take two back. They were very good! Be careful what you ask for here. This afternoon Rebecca got a hair cut. I think she liked the cut.
At 2pm Julie Bishop, wife of the lecturer Terry Bishop, had a "craft corner" to make Valentine's Day cards. My mother's birthday is next Wednesday and I forgot to bring a birthday card with me to send her. Well, Julie told me to come down and she had the stuff for me to make her one.
Everyone was working hard on Valentine's Day cards when I showed up 10 minutes early.I sat at this table with 4 ladies.I had to cut the picture and Happy Birthday then glue it on the card. Not too tough and even I could do it.
Finished product. The ship's port agent will mail it when we arrive in Miami on Sunday.
I almost forgot to publish this post and it is time to get ready for cocktail hour. Well, half hour tonight as dinner with Jason is at 6:30. Found out today that there will be 198 total passengers on the next segment. 48 new passengers getting on Sunday but some who are on will be disembarking. I was also told that 40 technicians will be embarking to do some work around the ship. Surprising as the Mariner just came out of dry dock in November.
Another sea day tomorrow. Passengers will be given a covid antigen test tomorrow morning for our arrival in Miami on Sunday. The crew was tested today.
